K/1st Grade Teacher
Joanie was thrilled to join the Emerson community in the fall of 2020. She is passionate about experiential learning, mindfulness, and teaching the whole child. Joanie loves K/1 for so many reasons: the enthusiasm of young learners, the joy of witnessing their growth and discovery, the opportunities to spontaneously burst into song, and the creatively delivered knock-knock jokes.
Joanie got her BA at Linfield and her MAT at Concordia. A life-long Oregonian, she loves animals, live theatre and music, plant-based cooking, and relaxing with her family.
