School Administrator
Sunita is a native New Yorker who has been living in Portland since the mid 1990's. She has over 25 years of experience working in education including early literacy programs, special education programs, and international education programs. She has worked in numerous Portland area schools including Cedarwood and Catlin Gabel. Sunita circled back to The Emerson School after working at other schools because of her commitment to The Project Approach and Positive Discipline, not to mention her desire to return to the mindful and talented staff that call Emerson home. Her favorite thing about The Emerson School is that the program allows children to have agency in their learning and become respectful, responsible, and compassionate community members. She is proud to be in her 6th year as The Emerson School Administrator and even more proud to be the parent of an Emerson alum! Sunita enjoys traveling, reading by roaring fires, and a good swim in the ocean whenever possible. Her favorite quote from an Emerson student is: A school that is "a little different in a lot of ways can make a big difference!"
